It is an R serial late vintage model with quick-setting date.
It is fully Rolex down to the original hands and crown. It has its very classic silver dial with baton markers and hands, which is untouched and mint.
The only visible wear on the wrist are the remnants of pin prick marks on the case back bezel, which could be polished out if desired. Our photos couldn't its condition justice.
Its original Rolex Oyster bracelet presents as just short of mint with light signs polishing and no stretch.
Accompanying it are original Rolex booklets and papers for an R serial number watch that show a different model/serial number.
Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling its automatic movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new Rolex gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $645 value).
It continues to keep time nearly on par with a new Rolex in all five testing positions. Included with the purchase is a full one-year international warranty, a Certificate of Authenticity, a new timing certificate attesting to its performance, and the Rolex booklets.
Note: A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pp. 392-393.
